Stand for Democracy and Bridging Divides presents:
A Nonpartisan Bridging Event

📋 Healthcare Cuts and their Impact in El Dorado County

✨ What: A nonpartisan event designed to promote civil dialogue with a variety of viewpoints facilitated by Ken Futernick, Bridging Divides - El Dorado
📍 Where: Episcopal Church - 2979 Coloma Street - Placerville
🗓️ When: Thursday, November 20 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm

The Bridging Event is not a debate but rather a chance to listen, understand and find common ground with people of different viewpoints. A timed presentation, this is an opportunity to be curious, open, set aside biases and look for shared values. This event is conducted with dignity and offers effective guardrails to ensure a path to mutual respect and understanding.

These events have been conducted successfully for many years by Braver Angels, a nonpartisan national organization dedicated to promoting healthy dialogue on topics of mutual concern. We recently held a similar event in Placerville that was well-attended on the future of democracy in our country.

This presentation is facilitated by Ken Futernick, a career-long educator, researcher, podcast host, and educational consultant to school districts and policy makers across the United States. He is also a long-time resident of the county and is one of the leaders of Bridging Divides - El Dorado.

This is how it works: A key speaker will give us an update on healthcare cuts and how they will affect residents in El Dorado County. Next, a panel of 4 to 6 people with a variety of viewpoints will sit in a row facing the audience. Each person will have about 4 minutes to respond to the two questions below.

💬 Panel Questions:

1. What role should our government play in healthcare?
2. What concerns if any do you have regarding healthcare cuts and their impact on our community?

Following the panelists' responses to the questions, the audience is invited to ask questions.

Afterwards the audience is asked if anyone they know has been affected by healthcare cuts. They are also invited to share their feedback of the event.
