Democracy Defenders Unite
Our great state is fighting autocracy head on and here in El Dorado County we are committed to do our part. Volunteers like those who showed up on Thursday, September 24, to a local post card party are educating voters, explaining why YES on Prop 50 is how we reclaim having a free country.
38 Volunteers attended and 1077 postcards were written. These cards are headed to voters all over California.
These are dedicated citizens, that's for sure. Here's why they attended:
I came to help save our democracy. Nobody is going to save us. We have to save ourselves.
I wanted to be around like-minded people in this very crucial effort and to learn about what everyone is doing locally.
I'm writing postcards because I enjoy living in a democracy and I want my children to be in a democracy. I don't want us to end up with a government like Putin in Russian, which is where we are headed if we don't fight back hard now.
There's accountability in masses and it was a really wonderful idea to get together with other people who wanted to contribute in some small way. If you are ever feeling isolated, this is one way to not feel alone.
The idea of democracy is "Demo"- the people - A state in which people rule. Our country has turned into a dictatorship... It's an authoritarian situation. It is important that we as the people of the country take it back however we can. We are using our power to take it back. That's why I enjoyed doing this.
I was thrilled to host so many democracy defenders in my home today. They came to urge fellow Californians to stand strong against Trump's blatant attack on free & fair elections, by voting YES on Prop 50.
